Description
A Qee is a simple vinyl toy that was originally designed around the human form. The small figures stand at an approximate height of 2.5 inches, the original design has been adapted over the years and now an extensive range of Qee's are available, anything from the original big ear small ear Qee to an egg shaped Qee. One of the features of a Qee is the packaging which is described as a "Blind Box" and as such a person would be unaware of the exact Qee they have bought until they have opened the box.
A Personal View
Qee's have become one of the most desirable and recognizable vinyl toys of late, I believe that this is due to there simplicity and different designs that are available. Many influential designers have designed there own personal Qee and this instantly makes the very desirable.
These toys have strong links with our psychological state of mind and many adults feel that the toys are a way of expressing there inner feelings, Qee's are a way of expressing these feelings, they are adaptable to humans as they resemble the human form but they are free from social barriers and the human race has a strong relationship towards this.
Context
Vinyl toys have made a significant rise in popularity of late. This is due to the social strains that the human race is put under everyday, Vinyl toy makers have realized the realationships that humans attach to "cute" items and they have taken full advantage of this fact. There are many types and styles of collectable vinyl toys available but I think that the Qee's popularity is down to many factors including the size and variety of styles available.
